Images Related to Weather

Photo from hint.fm of Super storm Sandy

This map was copied from Weather.com and I placed labels of fronts and where air types were as well as place a label on the fastest winds would be.  For exercise 1 this map aided in our learning.

Here is also a map of the air masses in North America I put together:
Exercise one pressure systems; on the left is a high pressure system that usually consists of calm cool air and on the right is a low pressure system that usually has stronger storms.  The next row of images is a side view of the two systems.

This is a live work place for interactive maps that are easy to do and very easy to visualize what is happening around the United States. This is from intellicast.com

This image was a part of the data we collected as a class. This shows the wind direction and speed of the Contintntal United States.

This map shows the temperature, wind speed and direction within the continental United States.  The date that the data was aqcuired from was March 4th at 11:15 p.m.

The key steps in order to create this map was to go to the NOAA Website and download the data on a specific day and time which requires one dbf, .shp and .shx file.  This data will show a great deal of information about the weather that occurred in the past week.

Then go to Arcgis program and you can open the files you downloaded.  Sometimes the data is required to be open with a specific projection which is WGS 1984.

The properties of this data can be manipulated and shown on the map.  The plethora of data can be chosen from and that way an individual can decide what is the most important to show.
